Performed in two variations: face-to-face and with the baby turned away from you. One of your hands holds the baby under the armpit, the other under the thigh. The baby sort of sits on your palm. Your thumbs and index fingers form a “lock” that allows you to hold even the most active baby.


You hold the baby upright under the armpits, it’s important to keep your thumb and index finger on the water’s surface. Your hands are relaxed but confident. The palm is open.


With any change of support, we use your bent knee for extra support.
